Well, it SHOULD have worked.

The terrain certainly had a chaotic sort of feel, and you knew your way around . . . more or less. The twists and turns on the paths made it hard to keep track of which direction you were going. Maybe if you'd brought a compass . . .

No, don't start off on another 'what if' you silently tell yourself. That would be one chaotic element too many.

The battle was TECHNICALLY a free-for-all, but you never let little details like that get in the way of innuendo. Alliances were flying all over within the first five minutes, and all six of you knew it.

You rush along the forest path a few more feet before you leap into a nearby bush and look around . . . insufficient concealment. You quickly back out and continue making your way swiftly and silently down the path, acutely aware of your pursuers as they follow from a ways back, eyes wide open.

You have an XP 70 -- you started with an XP 150, however. You had, however, already allied yourself with the previous owner of the 70 and "temporarily" swapped weapons for a particular skirmish. You mentally recoil as you recall how easily you were tricked.

When the battle first started, you departed as quickly as anyone from the opening volley and darted into hiding in the woods, moving around quickly and looking for lone warriors. You found one quickly enough -- an individual with an XXP 175 (sporting a make-shift shoulder strap) and a classic 25 at his waist. You quickly agreed to a temporary alliance you both knew you'd need as early as possible if you were going to get anywhere in this game.

After scoring a few glancing blows on an unfortunate but fleet-footed individual who stumbled upon your coalition while rushing through the woods -- armed with an XP 90 -- your ally convinced you to take on a third companion, who sported an XP 70. They convinced you to swap weapons for the sake of your own speed by flattering your familiarity with the battlefield -- which should have been an instant red flag to you -- and outlined a fairly simple ambush.

One player sported a 2500 -- the only CPS weapon in the game -- and seemed to be convinced he could manage to be a one-man army. The two of them would stage an attack on him, and then you were to chase them off and pretend to ally yourself with the target, who you would soon betray and lead on a wild chase that ended in an ambush -- hence your need for speed.

Things seemed to be going according to plan when you charged into the fray, and the plan might have worked, but for your own ineptitude or poor luck -- as you scattered fire around the area of your teammates to fake an attack on them, you accidentally hit the player with the 2500, who immediately turned his 20X nozzle on you with a full pressure tank while your allies made good their escape.

The light weapon had helped, but it probably would have been more help to have some decent firepower while you were being chased through the underbrush. Eventually you lost your pursuer, but by then you were thoroughly lost.

What followed was a quite lengthy ordeal of threading your way through the woods, searching for the designated ambush spot where you hoped you could rejoin your teammates. After another encounter with the wielder of the XXP 175 allied with the sixth player, armed with an XP 250 and a deadly aim -- you finally found the spot.

As you neared the location and cast your gaze about, searching for signs of your allies, you quickly got more than you bargained for as they apparently decided to make the most of their failed plan and ambushed YOU.

They dart around a corner behind you and come into view. Muttering under your breath, you fire another precious burst of water from your by now heavily drained weapon and plunge off the trail into a particularly dense portion of the woods, trading speed for concealment. You were getting no where fast.

As a matter of fact, you had exchanged fire with EVERY other player in the game and succeeded in achieving the role you originally forged an alliance to avoid -- the single, picked-on, poorly-armed, pathetic little whimp. How ironic.

I would climb a tree and wait for the others to emananate each other

I'm not familiar with the word "emananate" and I can't find it in the dictionary. The closest I can find is emanate, which makes no sense in this context.

Assuming that what you're basically saying is "wait for them to kill each other off", I would point out that this is obviously not an elimination game (as you and other people have already been hit quite a bit but are still in), so the best you could hope for is that they'd run out of water or get tired. Well, when they run out of water they're just going to quit or hide unless they can refill, and when they get tired they're going to want to stop, so waiting doesn't buy you a thing unless you get really lucky and the alliances disintegrate.

Further more, if you get noticed while you're up in the tree or while climbing it (which seems likely since you're currently being chased), you've only succeeded in getting yourself into an even worse position because you can't run, can't dodge, and have minimal cover.


First of all, it would be an idiot indeed who would up a 150 for a 70 under any conditions. That being said, I don't suppose you would let me get my 150 back, so I am stuck with a almost-emtpy 70 and a soaking shirt.

Great.

First thing I would need to do is head toward some sort of water refill. Throw caution to the winds- book it and forget stealthy movement. Assuming I found one, I would refill my weapon and pressure-load it, and would set out again. This time, with a full weapon and a somewhat dryer shirt.

If there is a refill point (which is something I failed to mention one way or another), that is an excellent first move. If you move at maximum speed, you may be able to outrun your pursuit; however, forgetting about them isn't a good idea.

Yay.

Next item on the agenda would be to hunt. First person I would go for is the 2500 wielder, seeing as how he has not allied himself with anyone. When I found him, I would employ guerrilla tactics from the cover of bushes or trees. Fire, duck and pump, wait till he turns his back on you, move around a bit. Rinse and repeat. Continue until he preferably is so demoralized that he throws down his gun, or he gets so mad that he runs away. If he throws down his gun, take his and run back towards the refill spot, fill it up and go for the others. If he ran, I would follow him and continue trying to demoralize him until he finally throws down his gun or quits.

Ah, assuming that you found a piece of cover dense enough that the CPS couldn't punch through it, what's to stop him from running over and killing you from point blank? I assume you'd agree that you're probably no match for a 2500 in a straight fight.

You might be able to keep your location hidden if you were very careful, but he wouldn't stick around, and you'd spend 95% of your time relocating, which is so much trouble that there's no way you'd ever get him demoralized. Getting him to give up his weapon is a joke, and if he quits you're no better off than before, except that now the alliances each have one less threat to worry about.

Assuming I got his gun, I would hunt down the others.

Yeah, right. You're going to avoid two or three sets of eyes at once while still getting them wet enough to be anything but a minor annoyance? No way.

If I was getting nowhere, then I would just quit, go get my 150 from the one guy, and give him back his 70, which I had just emptied, and go home. There would be no point.

Make sure you bring a white flag when you make the exchange or you're gonna get soaked again. Have fun at home.


This guy is dead. he's made war on every player in the game, and now he's dashing through the woods with a dangerously close to being empty XP-70! Anyway, that guy deserves to get it, what idiot would trade a higher-end weapon for a lower one??!!

All right, first of all, I wouldn't start from the assumption that the battle is hopeless.  Five-to-one is worse than happens in the usual course of a water fight (if there's any such thing as the "usual course" of a water fight), but people have fought worse odds and won.

Secondly, even if you DO assume the battle to be hopeless, you still need a plan.  There are different DEGREES of defeat in a water fight, and I assume you'll want to go for the driest of all possible scenarios.

And finally, I hope I never find that I have to ally with you. It's called TEAMWORK. When you're not in a true free-for-all, you want to give your TEAM the best odds of winning, not YOURSELF. If that can be done by swapping a CPS 3200 for absolutely nothing, then by all means, do it!
