Deception of Victory
<<April 25, 1998>>
It should have been just another fight, but reality had a way of being disappointing.
This wasn't the first time you had played against Greg. You've played him front and back, every scenario, every game you could. It was a tradition.
But this game wasn't quite traditional.
You take a quick look around to make sure no one's sneaking up on you. So far, so good.
You really enjoyed dueling with the XP 65s, and that was the gun you brought. Heck, that was the only gun you had--it was also the only gun Greg had . . . until today.
Seeing a glimmer of violet in the bushes to your left, you duck behind a tree just as an enoumous stream of water slices through the air where you just stood. You duck and run the other direction, but that takes you out of the woods again. You check your water supply. Only about enough for another 10 seconds of realistic fire, and then you're down to the tiny dregs and mist.
Cursing that new CPS 1000, you quickly look for a way back into the woods so you can negate your opponent's range advantage. One hit kills.

You are represented by the blue dot, your opponent by the red.

Use the imfamous 'Waste Water' tactic. Make the dude with the CPS watse all his water in a few ways.
1. Make Decoys
2. Hide behind big trees
3. Climb trees
Eventually, he'll run out. Just hope you're not wet. He's now defenseless. Run at him, screaming, with the nozzle off, and spray his @$$ across the field.

Hmm, I don't have the slightest idea what you could use to make a plausible decoy, or what good it would do to climb a tree except to leap up into its branches as a last-resort temporary haven against an enemy blast. Hiding behind big trees is what you were already doing, and HE just almost hit you full in the back with the stream of liquid which would have spelled certain defeat.
The CPS 1000 may have a fairly limited water supply, but your opponent can still afford to waste quite a bit of water. This tactic might work if you have the stamina and patience to keep it up for a long time (and your opponent isn't TOO bright), but there are more efficient methods which allow even those with lower endurance to be victorious.
I would run to the clump of trees to the northeast and take cover just out of his range (assumeing he is outside of the clump)and wait. Eventuly he would pass by. If he didnt see me I would slowly follow him, making sure I wouldnt step in anything that would make noise, sneak up on him from behind, and waste him. If he DID see me, I would run out of the trees and dash to the trees to the west or south (depending on where he was) and use the same tactic. If he sees me again I would run from clump to clump until it worked. If he sees me while I'm sneaking up on him, I would run for my life and curve often to avoid the fire from behind. I should be able to outrun him since his gun is bigger and heavier than mine.

Repetition is the scourge of genius. Repeating the same tactic over and over is more likly to degrade its usefulness than give it another chance after the first few runs. The last thing you want is to become predictable.
Also, its reasonable to assume that this guy isn't all that bad of a shot even with his new gun, and its simply arrogant to think that you could get away from him (possibly (maybe likly) from close range) consistently. It may serve as a reprieve for a few times, but generally you have to make sure that he doesn't catch you close by until its too late.
I would suggest that you blast him first reasonable chance you get, cut your losses.
I would climb high enough into a tree until I'm out of his range. Since I have a better shot going down than he has going up, I will wait until he passes by the tree and drench him.

Well, besides the fact that he's already close enough to you that there's no way you could get very high before he caught up to you unless you managed to lose him again, there's also the problem of keeping the distance practical. Even going straight up, a CPS weapon goes pretty darn far. Because of this, you'd have to climb far up. In order to successfully climb that distance with an XP 65 in hand, there would need to be quite a few branches, which would probably obscure your view of the target and scatter any water you fired, preventing any exchange of fire.
I suppose you could try and lure him up the tree, but you'd have to point out to him that you're up there, and there's no saying that he's stupid enough to try and climb up after you. He could just wait on the ground until you came down yourself and drench you as you climbed.
It's not too late! You can still send in solutions! All future solutions will be posted as soon as they are recieved.
