Hunter

The Hunters are well-trained in their art and well-adapted to their environment. They can outpace any of the changeling's form on land or in water, and their marksmanship allows them to take down their prey from a short distance and even clear away impeding trees with enough patience.

Hunters begin the game with 5 skill points to distribute between their skills, and a single (undroppable) tome of retraining which will allow them to completely re-select their skills one time only. At mid-night, Hunters are granted a sixth skill point.

Search
Activate to detect hidden creatures from a greater distance, but move at 50% of normal speed.

Search Information
Hunters can always detect hidden creatures at very short range (100), but a Hunter actively searching can spot them from a much greater distance. You'll move more slowly while searching, but you'll still be able to outpace many of the changelings' forms, including the Skink, which is the only one that can remain hidden while moving. The Skink may be very difficult to corner without actively searching.

Reveals the recent passage of creatures.

Track Information
All of the changeling's forms, except the Albatross, leave traces of their movement on the ground or in the water which persist long after the changeling has moved on. This ability will reveal those tracks, showing the Hunter the form of the creature that made the tracks and its direction of facing.

Track is an excellent way to find a changeling again if you once knew where it was but it has evaded you. You don't need to use Track constantly while chasing a creature, just use it occasionally and at intersections to make sure that you don't take a wrong turn.

 

Hunting Owl
Summons a hunting owl which can fly, detect hidden creatures at close range, and slay airborne creatures.

Hunting Owl Information
The Hunting Owl has 400 speed, a sight range of 900, reveals hidden creatures at a distance of 300, and can attack and kill airborne opponents. The Hunter must channel this spell in order to retain control of the Hunting Owl, however; if you move or attack, the owl will disappear.

The Hunting Owl is an ideal method for finishing off a changeling in the Albatross form, especially if it's hovering over an area that is hard to reach, such as on the border of a cliff or over a cluster of trees. The Hunting Owl can also be used to scout a small area quickly when you need to pinpoint a changeling's location; its ability to see above trees and cliffs makes it very difficult to hide from, and changelings without a similarly unimpeded sight might not even spot the owl that locates them.

Mind Link Information
The lack of shared vision can make it difficult for the Hunters to work together. This spell enables one Hunter to see through the eyes of her allies, making it easier to corner changelings and avoid re-searching an area.

 

Scent of Fear
Alerts the Hunter to the presence of changelings, even if she can't see them.

Scent of Fear Information
With Scent of Fear, a Hunter will see flashes of red any time a changeling is nearby, even if she can't see the changeling due to sight-blocking obstacles. At higher levels, the red flashes will become stronger as the changeling becomes closer.

Scent of Fear allows a Hunter to move through an area more quickly and uncover the general whereabouts of changelings without expending time or mana to cast spells or search carefully. However, it won't allow you to pinpoint the changeling, so you will need to search very carefully or rely on your other skills to go in for the kill once you've caught a changeling's scent.
