Avenger Simulation System

The USS Avenger (NCC-72830) is a ficitious Federation Starship which exists in the holodeck- its dedication plaque, according to what Lt. Cmdr Tate saw, read "Above and beyond the call of duty..." It is an advanced Galaxy-class design.

The simulation makes use of holo-suits (in some respects, similar to the one Geordi LaForge once used to pilot a probe) which generate sensations, even a uniform, on the person in question. This allows the simulation to be as realistic as possible-even more real than reality. The suits transmit neuro-impulses and visual stimuli, in coordination with the Avenger simulation, which is extremely complex and details down to the last durasteel fastener, an entire starship, with a holographic and dynamic crew. The simulation is itself dynamic-it can change at any time, just like a real mission. Thus, with the holo-suits on, the personnel taking part in the simulation can be "injured", experiencing very real sensations (even pain, within limits) and the suits generating synthetic injuries which have very real effects, which medical personnel can "treat" in the holodeck, as if in real life. Personnel can be lost in space or on a planet, encounter strange phenomenon, be knocked unconscious, and even have such unfortunate things happen as be killed or blown into space-at which point, they will lose consciousness, and be "removed" from the simulation (essentially made invisible and put into a mild stasis field) - for example, Cmdr. Bremmon once was blown through a hull breach - and recovered only after the simulation was over.

This simulation allows the most realistic training possible that remains in the confines of a controlled environment-and while currently only a prototype, used for fun in the crew's off hours, it could potentially be used in a variety of ways for training of personnel. It exists onboard Starbase 12 and in the USS Lion Heart's holo systems.
