It is now possible to design a torpedo so that, rather than attempting to penetrate the shields of the target, is disperses and explodes upon contact with the energy shielding protecting most vessels. This causes the torpedo to inflict no damage to the actual ship, but can increase its damage against the shields by as much as 50%, varying depending on exact conditions of impact.
It is not possible ot combine the shield dissipation warhead and the magnetic guidance torpedo, as the magnetic forces continue to pull the torpedo through the shields and the special shield dissipation modifications have no effect.
